HOME Music Ministries
The Music Ministry at First United Methodist Church offers many opportunities for those with musical talent and a heart to praise God through music.
Music is very important to First United Methodist! We believe that music helps us to enter into the presence of God in a unique way and that the songs we learn and keep in our hearts help us to walk with God every day of our lives. Because of this belief, we have decided to move our Children’s Choirs to Wednesday afternoon and incorporate them into the Connection (formerly WOW, JAM, and the ROCK.)
Our preschool choir for 3-5 year olds, the Kiddie Corner Choir, will be offered at 3:00 on Wednesday afternoons. We will be bringing the FUMC kids over from the Preschool and invite any preschoolers who do not attend our Preschool to join us in the Rainbow Room in the Music Suite.
Children’s Handbells/Chimes will now be offered on Sunday afternoons. At 4:15, beginning ringers in grades 2 – 4 will meet with Ms. Beth in the Handbell Room. This choir is now called the Joshua Ringers. From 5:00 – 5:45, children in grades 3-5 who have already had at least one year of ringing will meet in the Handbell room. They are the Jericho Ringers.
On Sunday afternoons from 4:00 – 5:00, I will be offering Youth Sing & Ring for 6th – 12th grades. We will be doing just that: singing and ringing together.
I encourage you to help us make music a priority in your children’s lives! They will truly be blessed!
The Van Patten Handbells rehearse on Sunday nights at 6:00, and the Chancel Choir begins practice at 6:30 on Wednesdays. If you are interested in joining either one of these groups, please let me know!

Because a Handbell Choir is so dependent upon every ringer being there each week, both parent and child will be required to sign a commitment card for the school year.
